O’Connor’s forms Project Management OfficeSINGAPORE, 31 August 2007 – O’Connor’s is pleased to announce that it is forming a Project Management Office, to oversee and manage all its projects and build upon the expertise O’Connor’s has developed over the years in project management. This is to ensure that O’Connor’s, as an engineering systems integrator, consistently delivers a high standard of project management methodology and integrates all of its capabilities and resources under one umbrella. The Office will be responsible for ensuring that all projects comply with accepted standards, are delivered on time, on budget and to customers’ satisfaction. This will bring benefits to all stakeholders, customers and staff alike. Customers will definitely experience the impact of the newly established PMO. The improved practices in project delivery will help O’Connor’s provide world-class engineering services and solutions, empower its staff to excel, ensure the best customer satisfaction, and to maintain high standards in all that it does. Other benefits include enabling sales staff to focus on providing solutions that meet the business needs of their customers without worrying about project issues; while project management staff and teams will be able to develop their skills in their chosen profession and have a clearer job scope and prospects as O’Connor’s strives for all staff to be professionally certified. The office will be headed by Mr Derek Nicholson, and bring together all staff currently in project teams. Mr Nicholson, has over 20 years experience in telecommunications, and IT, has wide-ranging and specific project management experience and expertise. Before joining O’Connor’s in 2006, Derek had implemented a contact centre for a Singapore Government authority, working with MNC clients Avaya and Accenture and the government body, to manage the project. Over the years, he has worked with Compaq, HP and Telstra ( Australia ). With the establishment of the Project Management Office, project staff will have an enhanced career path and a training and development plan. This will put project management culture on a firm footing within O’Connor’s. These will, in the long run, help to set standards in service culture and reap benefits for customers. |
